Due to the second lockdown and the effects of COVID-19, it is becoming increasingly clear that how we travel will also change in 2021 – at least for a while.

Usually, at this time of the year many renters are already booking their vacation for 2021. But this year everything is different: our surveys shows that 84% of all travel enthusiasts won’t book their next vacation yet.

So what will change for you and your bookings at the end of the year and in 2021?

Suddenly closed borders, little planning security and belonging to the risk area: all these developments are causing our renters to book more spontaneously than usual.
Requests for trips that should start within 12 – 48 hours are increasing. With such a short preparation time, travelers want to avoid high cancellation costs or simply the disappointment of not being able to travel.

 

What can you do?

Quickly respond to renter’s booking requests. In order to make communication even faster and more flexible, we have also activated the SMS notification, which shows you when a new booking request is waiting in your mailbox. Maintain your Calendar, even if your camper is hibernating. Keeping your Camper ready for departure will flexibelise your acceptance in booking requests.

Another factor is the duration of the booking: many regions are being declared as risk areas, therefore the probability of new booking requests coming in for a one week trip duration is higher then one for three weeks time or longer.

 

What can you do?

Shorten your minimum rental period to get more booking requests. If you want, you can increase the prices for this special offer to make up for your effort. If you`re able to be more spontaneous, you can also remove any pre-set preparation days from your calendar.

If further decisions are made in order to contain the Corona virus (e.g. travellers can’t travel between states anymore or use any kind of accommodation, etc) we are all confronted with the fact that we can travel no longer. Renters expect all of us to be compliant.

 

What can you do?

Rebooking is free of charge and great: You don’t lose your rental income and your renters can continue with their vacation possibility. In order to reach more renters in the ‘Camper Search’ phase, agree to rebooking and enable friendly cancellation conditions in your Camper profile.

Our renters are worried about contamination. Many have families, and among them there are certainly people which are part of the risk group. The biggest focus now is on hygienical clean campers.

 

What can you do?

Thoroughly clean and desinfect your camper before renting it out. Putting an end to viruses and bacteria will make renters feel good and safe about travelling. Also, wear mouth and nose protection when you meet them and keep your distance. You can also set a preparation day in the calendar, so bookings are always made well in advance.
